About the Honestly Loved Duo

We’re the Honestly Loved Duo — two people who got engaged, tried to plan a wedding across three time zones with terrible WiFi, and got so frustrated with the tools available that we built our own.

Who we are

We’re digital nomads. Our own wedding got planned from co-working spaces, kitchen tables, and one memorable night from a hotel lobby with a laptop at 40%. We know what it’s like to try to lock a vendor deposit while your fiancé is six time zones away and hasn’t seen the contract yet.

That frustration is why we built the Big Day Wedding Planner app — budget, guest list, vendor tracking, and seating chart that live locally on your device, not on someone else’s server, so it works whether you’ve got five bars of signal or none. We built it because the existing options made you choose between a messy free spreadsheet and a subscription service holding your data. We wanted neither.

Why we write this blog

Every post here comes out of a real planning problem — usually one we hit ourselves, or watched a friend hit while we were building the app. The shuttle that showed up short outside Austin, the caterer’s per-head fee that blindsided a friend in Chicago, the guest-count negotiation that turned into a funding negotiation — these aren’t hypotheticals, they’re the reason a given post exists.

How we source what we publish

We cite named, dated sources — Zola, The Knot, Bank of America, Fidelity, CNBC, and similar tier-1 outlets — and we say so directly when a number doesn’t exist yet in published research, instead of inventing one to make a paragraph feel more finished. If you spot something in a post that’s out of date or wrong, tell us at support@honestlyloved.com and we’ll fix it.

What we’re not

We’re not wedding planners, financial advisors, or attorneys, and nothing on this blog is a substitute for advice from one. We’re two people who’ve been through the planning process, built a tool to make it easier, and write down what we’ve learned along the way — honestly, including the parts we don’t have a clean answer for yet.

Honestly Loved Duo

We’re the two-person team behind Big Day Wedding Planner, married digital nomads who planned our own wedding across three time zones and two suitcases, and have talked more friends through vendor-contract panic and budget spirals than we can count. Every number here is sourced and linked, every checklist comes from something one of us (or a friend) actually lived through.
